News : IIT Faculty OK With The New Formula

Earlier Joint Admission Board held a meeting ahead of MHRDs special meeting with IIT Senates and has almost unanimously agreed on the new compromise formula proposed by HRD Minister Kapil Sibal, now reportedly the new formula also seems to have calm down the IIT Faculty too.

We want to support schooling and we think this new formula will support schooling system. Rather than having an absolute percentage, this formula will work better..,However, faculty members still have the issue of autonomy of IITs. It all depends on what decision council will take on meeting on June 27″ Said an All India IIT Faculty Federation reporesentative talking about the same.

According to the new formula, top 20 percentile of the students will be selected with their 12th board scores and combined with JEE Main examination a shortlisting will be done for eligibility to JEE Advanced examination, which can be held on any day of choice of IITs. The scores in JEE Advanced will solely be used for shorlisting for admission into IITs
